Pueblo's Hand Truck Company rolls ahead of competition

With help from the Pueblo-based Hand Truck Company, 300 pounds becomes a “light lift” for any warehouse worker or delivery driver.

The Hand Truck Company LLC manufactures multi-directional hand trucks and “Attachit Straps” perfect for wheeling appliances, beer kegs, boxes, cases, doors, furniture, plywood and other hefty items in tight spaces.

Company co-founder Richard Cortese created and patented the Hand Truck 360 after being unable to find a hand truck on the market capable of moving in all directions — not just forward and backward.

Cortese’s Hand Truck 360 design allows operators to change directions by accessing hand-level triggers. The Hand Truck 360 carries up to 400 pounds, is equipped with a 10-foot Erickson retractable ratchet to secure items and polyurethane balloon tires that are perfect for hard surfaces.

After patenting the Hand Truck 360, Cortese asked his wife’s cousin, Judy Kochevar, to assist with marketing the product. The team has since built a brand trusted by Pueblo County, Colorado State University Pueblo, Black Hills Energy, Fuel & Iron Food Hall and Big R Stores among many other businesses.

“Our customers have told us that they can send one guy out to safely do the job of two,” Kochevar said.

Not only does The Hand Truck Company’s uniquely designed line of products help businesses thrive in a labor shortage, products also help protect workers’ well-being by preventing common workplace injuries, according to a blog post by licensed occupational therapist Josh Corbin.

“The Hand Truck 360 product may be more expensive than the basic linear hand truck, but its features, including the racheting/retracting strap attachment can go a long way in preventing injuries in material management that can cost companies loss of labor, loss of income, and increased workers’ compensation premiums,” Corbin said.

Corbin’s assessment of The Hand Truck Company’s products may be read in full on The Hand Truck Company website at https://www.thehandtruckcompany.com/blog/how-the-hand-truck-360-helps-reduce-injuries-and-worker-comp-claims.

In addition to the original Hand Truck 360 design, the company also sells the Hand Truck 360 Pro, the Hand Truck 360 Premium Pro, and the Wheeler 360.

Both the Hand Truck 360 Pro and Hand Truck 360 Premium Pro have a hauling capacity of 500 pounds and a 15-foot Grainger ratchet. The Hand Truck 360 Premium Pro also has semi-pneumatic tires to move objects on dirt, grass, gravel and rocks.

The Wheeler 360 is a Hand Truck 360 model with a double keg hook and safety plate ideal for carrying beer kegs. The Wheeler 360 can also be used for boxes, signage and cases. The Hand Truck Company also sells Attachit Straps for securing items on dollies, other hand trucks and Magliners.

The Attachit Strap Pro can be used with most dollies or hand trucks, and the Magliner model fits to the frame of most Magliners. The straps can be placed around products horizontally or vertically and tightened as needed. All products of The Hand Truck Company are made in Colorado.
