No Styrofoam, no problem: Anthony's Paper Supply offers affordable, high-quality foodservice products and more

Colorado’s ban on Styrofoam cups, to-go containers and other products earlier this year has heightened the demand for environmentally-friendly foodservice packaging.

A statewide ban of expanded polystyrene products like Styrofoam was implemented on January 1, 2024 through Colorado House Bill 21-1162. The bill authorizes local governments to impose up to $500 penalties for second-time violations and up to $1,000 for violations thereafter.

Restaurants and stores may be permitted to distribute Styrofoam products purchased before Jan. 1, but what happens after stocks run out?

Anthony’s Paper Supply, 1811 Santa Fe Dr., has the answer. Just East of Pueblo city limits, the locally-owned wholesale distributor has a wide selection of Styrofoam alternatives like paper hot cups, paper cold cups, molded fiber containers and more.

While some distributors may see the transition away from Styrofoam as an opportunity to raise prices on alternatives, Anthony’s Paper Supply’s mission is to provide customers with the best pricing available.

“No more Styrofoam plates, no more Styrofoam cups, bowls, etc… We have the lines of products to replace them all,” owner Anthony Bartolo said. “We work really hard on finding some lines to get the price close to what you were paying for the Styrofoam.”

Other distributors may price hinged molded fiber and mineral-filled containers at rates 5 to 10% higher than Styrofoam; but Anthony’s Paper Supply is able in many cases to match the price of its alternatives with those of Styrofoam containers.

Products sold at Anthony’s Paper Supply are not only competitively priced, they are high-quality. Alternative containers are tight-closing, perfect for holding the heat and keeping products like Pueblo chile from soaking through packaging.

Colorado restaurants moving away from Styrofoam aren’t the only ones that will benefit from a visit to Anthony’s Paper Supply. Wholesale paper, foodservice, janitorial and household supplies are sold by Anthony’s Paper Supply to all kinds of businesses, as well as individuals.

Whether it’s paper towels, toilet paper, paper bags, soap, air fresheners, disinfectants, trash can liners, hand sanitizer, masks, nitrile gloves or vinyl gloves — Anthony’s Paper Supply has it. Anthony’s Paper Supply is open on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“We look forward to offering you the very best service and pricing… remember if your business needs any cups, lids, cutlery, toilet paper, paper towels, janitorial supplies, just give us a call,” Bartolo said.
