Do the 'Summer Bucket List' challenge and win prizes

Visit Pueblo and the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce are encouraging everyone to get out and explore the amazing offerings of the Steel City with the “Summer Bucket List ‘24” campaign.

From now until Sept. 23, Pueblo residents and tourists will have the opportunity to win prizes by visiting a destination, sharing photos of their adventure on Facebook or Instagram with “#summerbucketlist” and “#visitpueblo.”

“I think even for people that have lived here their entire lives, there are certain things in their own backyard that they may have never done,” said Mandy Thacker, Community Development Coordinator at the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce.

Adventures perfect for Summer Bucket List photos include scenes from annual events, art galleries, farmer’s markets, local restaurants, museums, outdoor recreation areas, the Pueblo Zoo and more. The Colorado State Fair runs from Aug. 23 through Sept. 2. There’s also the 30th Annual Chile and Frijoles Festival on Union Avenue from Sept. 20 through 22.

In order to participate in the Summer Bucket List campaign, individuals must be at least 13 years of age and portray Pueblo positively with their posts. Accounts using “#summerbucketlist” and “#visitpueblo” also must be made public.

With unlimited entries allowed, individuals have a greater chance of winning prizes with each photo they enter. Entries will be selected at random for weekly prizes every Wednesday. Additionally, all entries submitted between June 20 and Sept. 23 will have the opportunity to win a grand prize drawing on Sept. 25.

Individuals also have the chance to be crowned a “Fan Favorite” prize winner. Ten photos will be chosen by Visit Pueblo staff and will be shared on Visit Pueblo’s Facebook page. The photo receiving the most likes will be the “Summer Bucket List Photo of 2024,” according to the Visit Pueblo website.

Weekly prizes include attraction tickets, event tickets, and swag donated from sponsors. With Pepsi and Three Corners Connectors serving as main sponsors, prizes also have been donated by the Abriendo Inn, Blo Back Gallery, Colorado State Fair, El Pueblo History Museum, Fuel & Iron Food Hall, Heart & Soul Grill, Hose Co. No. 3 Fire Museum and Impossible Playhouse.

Mission Foods, the Nature & Wildlife Discovery Center, Pueblo Parks & Recreation Department, Pueblo Zoo, Rosemount Museum and The Sacred Bean have also donated prizes, Thacker said.

“We want to encourage businesses to participate as well,” Thacker said. “Maybe that means incentivizing their employees with a half-day (Paid time off) so that they can explore something in Pueblo, or even planning a team building activity.”
