Pueblo gets hydration boost with Shen IV Therapy LLC.

Athletes and party goers alike can benefit from a popular type of hydration therapy new to Pueblo.

Shen IV Hydration Therapy LLC., located at 2131 Jerry Murphy Rd, is a full-service IV hydration bar in Pueblo. Clients, both walk-in and mobile, may receive vital hydration, vitamins, and amino acids intravenously to improve athletic performance, boost their immune system, treat hair loss, or recover from a hangover among other purposes.

“A lot of people just forget to drink the adequate amount of water,” said Nolan Bowman II, CEO of Shen IV Hydration Therapy. “It’s never forgotten but the adequate amount of water is not consumed by the average person on a daily basis. It’s not in the schedule.”

Bowman, a 19-year-old Pueblo native, benefitted from IV hydration therapy while competing as a boxer and high school football player. He is joined by his mother Erika Hatchett, owner of Arikare Homecare Services LLC., and the registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and paramedics who administer IV therapy on the staff at Shen IV Hydration Therapy.

“If someone were to come in, like a walk-in, we could either schedule them for a date and time that works for them or on demand, on the spot,” Bowman said. “You basically fill out a patient intake form which consists of allergies, post-past surgeries, post-past medications; things like that and that’s taken in by our provider.”

Jamie Chacon, head provider at Shen IV Hydration Therapy, has over 30 years of experience as a nurse practitioner in Colorado and is available to answer any questions clients may have about the treatment process.

After filling out a patient intake form, clients choose what therapy and treatment plan they prefer. Shen IV Hydration Therapy offers seven different types of infusions each with different benefits. While undergoing treatment, which lasts 45 minutes to an hour, clients are given electric blankets for warmth along with television and music options.

“Depending on what treatment is picked, all of them start off with our normal saline, 500 to 1000 ml of normal saline which is a vitamin C boost,” Bowman said. “Twenty to 30 minutes in is when the additional vitamins are added… We don’t want to overtake somebody’s body and give them too much vitamin too soon.”

While normal saline bags may be used once a day, recommended dosages for additional vitamins are much less frequent. Shen IV Therapy follows safety procedures for each additional vitamin and lists possible side effects on their brochures. All vitals, including temperature, are taken before and after treatment.

“We let that normal saline kind of flush their system,” Bowman said. “From there we add the additional vitamins in order to give them the treatment and result that they are looking for.”

While athletes comprise a large portion of clients for IV Hydration Therapy, treatments intended to boost athletic performance may be beneficial not just to serious athletes but also those who are frequently hitting the gym or just looking to stay in shape through providing essential amino acids.

“Those amino acids and proteins that somebody may lack from not eating the correct food or not putting the correct things in their body, even other aspects can all be taken care of in that one 45 minute to an hour session,” Bowman said. “There’s amino acids and proteins like glutathione that this consists of.”

In addition to serving walk-ins, Shen IV Hydration Therapy offers mobile service to clients near Pueblo, Pueblo West, and Canon City.
